Checking In with Gretchen

We're definitely making some good progress with Gretchen. She is coming out earlier, last night she came to eat at 8:17 which is still light out. When she sees us on the porch she starts running towards us and talks. She stays on the porch or stair platform for 1-2 hours with us after she eats and I can get as close as 3 steps away from her. She has started rolling around and being silly on the platform. I saw her play for the first time ever last night. She was whapping a little clay frog around on the steps. I threw her a little toy mouse and she ignored it, lol.She absolutely loves fried chicken and cat sip milk, what we call "chickie" and "mik mik." Of course, she also eats regular cat food as well. She looks and acts so much more relaxed than when she first came here.
For those of you who don't know....Gretchen was never an indoor cat, she is a feral cat we trapped and relocated to our property for her own safety. She may never become an indoor cat, we can't even touch her at this point. We are just hoping to someday soon be able to pick her up so we can put her in the garage or house during inclement weather. Being on the coast, tropical weather is a concern. I think we're definitely moving in the right direction.

It's a TNR weekend. We'll be trapping tonight for a clinic on Saturday. Hoping to get 15 cats.

The Mystery Kitty

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

So this kitty has been showing up on the camera almost every night. We've never seen her during the day and have asked all the neighbors, but no one claims her. We think it's a "her" because she is kinda small and is about the same size as Chevelle. In fact, she looks like Chevelle's twin. Well, we have a spay/neuter clinic coming up this weekend. We are going to try to trap her and get her spayed.

We Are Siamese If You Please

Well, the former shelter girls, Pancakes and Muffins, will be leaving us tomorrow for Perfect Pals Rescue in New Jersey. They will be doing the transport relay thing, so it's going to be a loooooong ride. It's about a 10 hour drive straight through, but they will be stopping about every 1 1/2 hours or so to switch cars, like a relay. We are very fortunate to have people who volunteer their time to do these transports. They are literally a life saver! So everyone purr and purray they will have safe travels and will find wonderful homes with wonderful families.

Pancakes and Muffins are our newest foster kittens. They will be staying with us for two weeks and then will be transported to a rescue in New Jersey. They are super precious! Get a load of those sky blue eyes!

We baby-cat-sat Mochacinno and Pumpkin over the weekend while their foster mom transported Tutti Frutti and Rudi to their new rescue. They're about 5 weeks old and were pulled from a feral cat colony. Talk about KYOOT! And how much does Mochacinno look like Maggie May?!!

Safe Travels, Love & Luck, Tutti Frutti and Rudi

Today we say goodbye to Tutti Frutti and Rudi. They are leaving to go to Maryland Pet Match Rescue. They've got a long ride ahead of them and we wish them and their wonderful transporter safe travels. They both still have URIs, so please pray they get well soon! We've asked the rescue group to please send us updates and we hope they will. We've gotten so attached to them in just one week. *tears*We are supposed to get 2 siamese mix kittens this weekend or next week. They, like Tutti and Rudi, are being pulled from our high-kill shelter by a very caring shelter volunteer who has found a rescue for them. Three of their litter mates weren't as lucky, bless them.
