Urgent - BCCP Needs More Nominations

Speechless - Wordy Wednesday

We just wanted to thank all of our wonderful friends in the CB for nominating the Beaufort Community Cat Project for Romeo's May recipient. Thanks to you, the BCCP has received a lot of nominations which has given them a good chance of becoming May's donation recipient. The BCCP works solely on donations and this money will go a long way towards their mission. The mission of the BCCP is to reduce the free-roaming cat population using the non lethal method of Trap-Neuter-Return.

Hit Me With Your Best Shot - Movie Monday

We got a new scratching post from Soccer Ball's mom! Remember Soccer Ball, our friendly neighborcat who likes to eat on our porch? Anyhoo, we just love this new scratching post. It has a ball on a string at the top that is fun to whap!

Oh yeah, our lady servant has started her own blog for her and the servant man. We have zero interest in it because it has zero to do with us. ::rolls eyes:: We think it will be huge snore because they are both dreadfully boring. Anyway, she wrote about her Saturday at the animal shelter where she helped with a spay/neuter clinic. Zzz....Zzz....Zzz

FURminator Tips on Preventing Hairballs in Cats

Fuzzballs, cat scratches and dirty litter boxes may be top complaints from cat parents, but paws down, hairballs are among the worst of the worst. With peak shedding season underway, our cats are in full swing when it comes to grooming themselves, which means an increase in hairballs (since hairballs are caused when the cat grooms itself). Friday, April 24 is National Hairball Awareness Day, and to help both cat and parents alike, below are some tips on how to prevent hairballs in cats:

1. Regular Grooming: Hairballs occur when cats over groom. To help cats look and feel their best, it’s essential to regularly brush them. The FURminator deShedding Tool for Cats is recommended by vets and nominated by Tufts University School of Veterinarian Medicine as the number one product to reduce hairballs in cats. Using the tool on a regular basis, as well as the FURminator deShedding Shampoo for Cats, will help reduce shedding, thus reducing the amount of hair your cat ingests.
2. Home Remedies: Try adding a little butter and canned pumpkin to your cat’s meals once or twice a week. The butter may loosen the hair clod and the fiber in the pumpkin can help move it through the system.
3. Stay Hydrated: Encourage your cat to drink plenty of water by placing various bowls throughout the house. The water will help flush out the hair before it has time to clump in the stomach.
4. Consult Your Vet: If you believe you cat has chronic hairball problems, ask your veterinarian to recommend a laxative supplement to help prevent ingested hairs from forming hairballs.

The Gift

Over the weekend the man in blue shorts delievered a surprise to our house on the creek. The package came all the way from the UK. We've never gotten a package from across the pond before, so this was very exciting! Ginger Jasper and his mom Carol sent a care package to our lady after the loss of Cal. Included in the package:

Yesterday I had my first yearly wellness check up with Dr. D. Last year when I was trapped, neutered and vaccinated, I tested positive for FIV at a different vet clinic. The servants decided to take me to Dr. D this time because of the wonderful care she gave to Cal. Dr. D is wonderful! First she gently stole my blood and retested me for FIV, unfortunately I still came up positive. The good news is I am "healthy as a horse!" Dr. D did say that I could have been vaccinated against FIV previously, which would cause a false positive. I weighed in at 14.5lbs and my heart and lungs sound great. By the looks of my teeth she estimated my age to be around 3-4 years. I guess that sounds about right. I received a three year rabies and three year distemper. Haha, all the other kitties in this house have to get their vaccinations every year.....how lucky am I! Yeah so I have FIV, other than that I'm in great health. I just have to go back next year for a wellness examination.

P.S. I really don't care much for the PTU or the metal machine on wheels! Gotta few bloody nails from that experience. I did, however, love the vet's office! I was able to roam around and investigate as I waited for the Dr. The lady kept pulling me out of the sink.

The servant lady was only able to get a couple of shots of me while we were waiting for Dr.D. The man servant said she was embarrassing him with the flashy box.

Thanks so much for all the birthday wishes for Maizy Grace and Ferris! They had a great birthday! Maggie May will celebrate her very first birthday tomorrow, here and on her own blog! Today is Patches birthday from Kaltsas Kats on The Prowl, everyone go wish that purrty calico a very Happy 5th Birthday!

Maggie May was so happy to receive her runner up prize from Baby Patches Spring Photo Contest. Baby Patches is Chief Kit at her mom's store, suppliesjustforpets.com. Once again, we were very impressed by the super fast shipping! Maggie May chose the VitaKitty Chicken Cat Treats. Not only are these treats yummy, they are also healthy and use cage-free chicken! All of us kitties here on the creek enjoyed these treats. Although Ferris wanted to, the lady made sure he didn't run of with these, like he did the party mix. We give these treats 12 paws up!

A Little Bit Of Green

We participated in our first Swap N Tails in March. The theme was green! We sent a package to Miz Allie Cat while Pearl, Bert and Jake sent us this very cool green package. There was party mix treats, fuzzy bugs, nip toys, and a green mouse. There was also some treats for the Dixie Dog, and a very pretty decorated Easter egg and kitty note pad for the lady. They also included a very cute Spring card! Thank you, Pearl, Bert and Jake! We love our green gifts!

As you can see, Ferris got a little carried away with the party mix. Ever heard of sharing, Ferris?? You aren't the only cat in this house and last we checked the mailing label says The Creek Cats, not just Ferris!

Spunky and Soccer Ball come by and visit pretty much every afternoon. They don't really come for food, they mostly come to steal our servant's attention and get scritches. We don't really appreciate that.

As you can see, Rambler doesn't appreciate it either, as he gives them his best laser eyes.
