Ramble and Roll

Yesterday I had my first yearly wellness check up with Dr. D. Last year when I was trapped, neutered and vaccinated, I tested positive for FIV at a different vet clinic. The servants decided to take me to Dr. D this time because of the wonderful care she gave to Cal. Dr. D is wonderful! First she gently stole my blood and retested me for FIV, unfortunately I still came up positive. The good news is I am "healthy as a horse!" Dr. D did say that I could have been vaccinated against FIV previously, which would cause a false positive. I weighed in at 14.5lbs and my heart and lungs sound great. By the looks of my teeth she estimated my age to be around 3-4 years. I guess that sounds about right. I received a three year rabies and three year distemper. Haha, all the other kitties in this house have to get their vaccinations every year.....how lucky am I! Yeah so I have FIV, other than that I'm in great health. I just have to go back next year for a wellness examination.
P.S. I really don't care much for the PTU or the metal machine on wheels! Gotta few bloody nails from that experience. I did, however, love the vet's office! I was able to roam around and investigate as I waited for the Dr. The lady kept pulling me out of the sink.

The servant lady was only able to get a couple of shots of me while we were waiting for Dr.D. The man servant said she was embarrassing him with the flashy box.

Thanks so much for all the birthday wishes for Maizy Grace and Ferris! They had a great birthday! Maggie May will celebrate her very first birthday tomorrow, here and on her own blog! Today is Patches birthday from Kaltsas Kats on The Prowl, everyone go wish that purrty calico a very Happy 5th Birthday!

Rambler, we are happy that you are healthy. We're sorry that you have FIV, but with the great home you have, I am sure you have a long healthy happy life ahead of you!

Rambler that sounds like a great vet visit.

Mum says she enjoyed her Easter bunny very much, and was sad to see him go.

I'm glad that you have such a good home...your mom and dad will do everything they can to keep you healthy!!

Rambler, we're happy you are doing great, even though you have FIV. Our Jonathan outlived everyone and he never did pass the virus along to anyone. Maybe you can have supervised visits with the rest of your family, as long as you don't bitey them? You have found yourself a fantastic forever home and you are going to live a long time to enjoy it!

You were such a good boy, Rambler! We could never be so relaxed inside the exam room. Mom has to take the top off of our PTU to get us out. We're very glad to hear how healthy you are!

Rambler, it sounds like you have a cool v-e-t also. That makes a lot of difference for us kitties. We don't know a lot about FIV, but you have terrific servants/parents who will take the best care of you.

Very good news, Rambler! We're really happy to hear it. And we are extremely impressed with how well you are behaving in that photo in the waiting room. (Unfortunately, we're not capable of that!)

Glad to hear you are so healthy. Our Ivy tested postive for FIV too but she is also very healthy. We give her something to boost her immune system by Standard Process -only vets can get this. Mom iwll write more about this stuff later.

Glad you enjoyed your VET visit, and got good news on being healthy as a horse. Maybe that is a false positive!

Sorry we missed kitty birthdays, so happy belated birthday everyone! I am so glad that your vet visit wasn't too traumatic. Tiger and GK just hate it tho everyone is so nice to them there. Bummer about the FIV, but great news that you're "healthy as a horse!" And after all, it could be a false positive. Have a happy Tuesday!

Good news about your health, Rambler! You're handsome and healthy and have a great home.

We were also impressed with your calm demeanor in the waiting room. Although we like the vet, there are too many smells and cats and dogs around that we have to stay in our carrier!

I looked up the product I am giving Ivy for FIV - this is the web site. I give her Feline Immune Support. I have been giving the Renal Support to Chica for 3 years for kidney failure and she is doing great. These products are amazing.

Glad you gotted a good check up Rambler! Our sister who came before us, Binky Baby, was FIV+ and never passed it on to Cerise or Lilly. She wasn't an agressive cat, so Mom didn't worry. Mom is a sucker for FIV+ kitties.

Rambler, we love to hear that you are in such good shape!
We seem to have missed a birthday at your place! Such lack of blogging help as in the last days is unacceptable! But tomorrow is a big day here too, as it's Siena's first birthday AND mom's birthday too. Siena hopes to be able to teleport over and celebrate un ratito with Maggie May.
Purrs!

Sounds good! We're pleased. Cliff got to wander around the vets this Easter when he went to the emergency room with his sprain tail. Cool!

Yeah, it sucks to have FIV, but with the loving, caring forever homes we have, it isn't an issue! I am very glad you got 3 year shots too. Shots stink.

It is awesome you are "healthy as a horse" cause you won't have to go back for a long long time.

Had you ever met Twizzler? Twizzler has a new brother Jack (his other brothers went to the Bridge) and they have FIV too. They are at buzznmeep.blogspot.com

They are very nice.

Um, about this "liking the VET place..." What is that about? I have to be gassed when I go...snigger

PS I am your swap buddy for April!!!

I'm glad you're ok, despite the FIV. You're one brave kitty! You definitely handled visiting the vet much better than me. Perhaps you could direct me to Dr. D. so I don't have to deal with Dr. Rodriguez again!

Despite the FIV, you sound like a very healthy mancat! That's good you don't have to go back for 3 years ;-)

Sunny's Mommy said...

Oops I see you have to back for wellness checks. Well at least you won't have to get the stabby, that's good!

While we are sorry you do indeed have FIV, at least you are healthy and know that you have it so you can be properly taken care of.

Glad you are well Rambler!!

We're glad ya are healthy Rambler! FIV is a scarey thing. Those were great pictures of you at 6 months and "now".

Great lokkin cake too! Was it toona?

AM said...

That is wonderful that you are a healthy mancat! Shots every 3 years, I know some kitties that would not be opposed to that idea!
Does a possible "false Positive" mean that you may never know if you truly have FIV?

PS Mommy is using Firefox as a web browser and that multi-window thing isn't happening now.
