The Kids Are Alright

The kittens are starting to feel better....... here's a little proof.

This video was taken around 11:00pm Tuesday, right after the lady had to force-feed them A/D by syringe! They have started eating small amounts on their own and have not vomited since Tuesday morning. YAY!

Who Are You? - UPDATE ON KITTENS

Well, Sebastian and Reilly are back home with humpacks! That means they got some fluids because they were a tad dehydrated. Not real sure what is going on with them, but we have 3 medications (amoxicillin, albon and metoclopramide syrup) to give at home and they got two other meds (strongid and reglan for vomiting) in the office. Last night the man cleaned up some yak that had a (live!!!) roundworm in it. They were dewormed (drontal) on Tuesday of last week, but it must not have gotten everything. Reilly had really bad tape worms! We are hoping and purraying the roundworms are causing them to feel yucky! If they are still not doing right by Wednesday, they will go back in for further testing. Please purr and purray that Sebas and Rei start eating some A/D tonight! Oh, and the traps are set for their momma and other siblings.

P.S. The Kool-Kitty-Krew is participating in Paw It Forward and needs some takers! If you would like to play, please stop by and sign up with them! We are unable to play do to the rising cost of foster kittens! :) Sure sounds like lots of fun though!!!

This is Scruffy, he lives in another subdivision about a mile and a half away. He comes to visit us quite often, sometimes twice a day. He travels by back road or by creek and sometimes with his partner in crime, a golden retriever named Crosby. Our man servant, who adores him, takes him back home to his fence after he and Dixie Dog play, but he always finds his way back to our house. He is a small pooch and his fence has large gaps, not a good combo. He's a good little woofie and kinda cute too!

It's Christmas Time Again

Wait.....what? Christmas? Yes, Christmas in July! We were partnered with Pugsley, the Lovely Lady Pug and her kitty siblings, Raja and Mini. They really hooked us up with some really awesome gifts! Just look at all that loot! Everything was wrapped in Christmas paper and there were Christmas cards and ornaments for the lady servant.

This a pic the lady took on the way home from the vet yesterday afternoon. Yes, Reilly is laying on top of Sebastian. Lol! How cute are they? They are doing great and you wouldn't even know they had surgery by the way they were playing last night! They are now officially ready for adoption.

Baba O'Reily

Sebastian and Reilly are having their neuters this morning! It was a little unexpected, but when the servants took them in for their vaccinations and deworming yesterday afternoon, the vet (who helps out the BCCP with discounts) told the servants to leave the kitties with him overnight and he would do the surgeries first thing in the morning before he sees his appointments. He's also giving them a discount on the surgeries and vaccinations. How wonderful!

He estimated their age to be around 5 months old (much older than the servants thought)! Sebastian weighs 6lbs, while Reilly is a bit smaller at 4.10lbs. They were such good boys during the examinations. The servants will be picking them up at 4:00pm today!

The rules for this award is to list 7 beauty tips and pass along to 7 bloggers.

1. Drink plenty of water, preferably straight from the tap or from a water fountain. If neither of those are available, a glass sitting out on the table will do just fine.

2. Keeping your nails short and neat is very important, so file them often. Nails can be filed on the side of the couch. Door facings and bed quilts also work very well for filing.

3. Oral hygiene is a must! Climb up on the bathroom sink and chomp down repeatedly on your servant's toothbrush. And don't neglect your back teeth or your tongue.

4. Exercise is paramount in keeping a healthy weight and figure. We recommend using the staircase as a racetrack. If a staircase is unavailable, try jumping up on the kitchen counters or even the master bed. This exercise is most efficient before dawn.

5. Keep your arms toned and muscular by whapping. You can whap your sibling, your toys, or even better...... whap items off of the nightstand at night. You know, like the remote, alarm clock, or better yet, a glass of water. Be sure to drink some of the spilled water, as stated in beauty tip #1.

6. A good posture is easy to acheive when you have good balance. Find a balance beam in your home and walk it daily. If you don't have a balance beam, a loft railing or shower curtain rod will work just fine! Remember, practice makes perfect!

7. Lastly, always get plenty of sleep. The most effective sleep is done during the day, that way you can do all your exercising during the night.

****Special Bulletin......We're Pissed****

Our servants will be leaving us bright and early Friday morning to go play in the bush gardens of Virginia. We have bushes here....... why can't they just play in the bushes in our yard? We've heard that the bush gardens in Virginia has a Big Bad Wolf and a Loch Ness Monster. Are they nuts? Well, thank goodness they aren't bringing us with them!

That's one scary looking monster!

Luckily, they will be coming home on Saturday morning. In the meantime, our man servant's mother will be feeding and scooping, but it just won't be the same. So. Not. Happy!

Hold On - Wordless Wednesday

Calling Dr. Love

Maizy Grace and Ferris had their yearly exams and vaccinations this morning. Maizy Grace weighed in at 12.8lbs while Ferris tipped the scale at 16lbs! That means we are gonna have to do a little "weight watching." It would probably help if they weren't so lazy.
Anyway, the appointment went very well and Maizy was an absolute sweetheart, rubbing against the vet and tech, but she cried the ENTIRE 30 minute trip to and from the vet's office. They both had yucky ears, even after the lady cleaned them, so we came home with some anti-fungal solution to use 2x per week. Vaccinations tend to make them feel pretty lousy, so they'll sleep pretty much the entire afternoon.

So, our servants are on staycation from their day jobs this week. This does not mean they are on staycation from working for us.... hope they know that! Anyhoo, we'll be around, but probably not as much, so please don't forget about us! Purrs!

Let It Ride - Updated, links now working

On August 1st, our friend and local biologist, Paul Rudershausen will embark on a cross-country bike ride to benefit the Outer Banks Wildlife Shelter. Paul's journey will begin in Coos Bay, Oregon (Cory Cat's home state) and will take him through a dozen states and over 3000 miles to his final destination of Atlantic Beach, NC.

Paul has been a dedicated OWLS volunteer for three years. He's taking this journey at his own expense and all donations will go directly to the Outer Banks Wildlife Shelter. His goal is to raise $10,000 to help improve the facilities and to fund the construction of a large mammal cage.

Shining Star

We are now the proud owners of a SNIPPET! His name is Alvin and we won him in a giveaway over at Carrie's Snippet blog! Carrie is a wonderful artist who creates these Snippets, mixed media paintings and other little treasures to sell at her Etsy shop. She is also a kitty rescuer and spay/neuter advocate who does TNR in her community. We think Carrie is a shinning star!
