1. What would your prefect day consist of?
A perfect day would be a day that I don't see horrible stories of pet abuse or neglect on the news or in the paper. Also, a day when all shelter pets have forever homes and all stray and feral cats have all been TNR'd and no kitten is born into the hard life of a feral cat.

2. How would you describe yourself if you were an item of clothing?
An old broke-in pair of jeans with holes in the knees.

3. What hobbies are you currently working on?
I'm really trying to work on my gardening skills.

4. Walking in the woods in wellies or bare foot on the beach?
Bare foot on the beach, of course!

5. Have you ever hugged or sang to a tree?
No

6. Growing your own veggies or nipping to the supermarket?
Supermarket for now. Although, someday I hope to grow my own vegetable garden!

7. Have you found anyone exciting in your family tree?
Yeah, not so much.

8. Slap up meal in a posh restaurant or fish ‘n’ chips from the wrapper?
Posh restaurant because I love dinning out and don't get to do it too often. So when I do it's a real treat!

9. Which element do you most resonate with, Earth, Air, Fire or water?
Water

10. Do you believe in fairies?
Not really, but would love to one day discover the house cleaning fairy!

Marg's Pets: Marg has a huge heart and takes care of many rescues. Not only cats, but dogs, donkeys and goats too! We love Marg!

The Snippets: Snippet Girl is a very talented artist, animal lover and one woman TNR army. Not only had she spayed/neutered 60 cats in her town between August 2008 - August 2009 (and plenty more since) she has also fostered and found forever homes for many, many, many cats and kittens. Be sure to visit her etsy shop. The proceeds help to fund her TNR efforts!

Sakura: Our new friend from Romania with the beautiful blue eyes.

Prints of a Cat: Prints is 5 years old and was recently adopted by his wonderful humans in November of 2009. He is doing a great job of training his new family.

Goodess Gracie: Gracie is a very busy girl! She's running the show over at the CB Auction Site and is also the VSquillion shelter manager. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GRACIE!!

Who Are You? - UPDATE ON KITTENS

Well, Sebastian and Reilly are back home with humpacks! That means they got some fluids because they were a tad dehydrated. Not real sure what is going on with them, but we have 3 medications (amoxicillin, albon and metoclopramide syrup) to give at home and they got two other meds (strongid and reglan for vomiting) in the office. Last night the man cleaned up some yak that had a (live!!!) roundworm in it. They were dewormed (drontal) on Tuesday of last week, but it must not have gotten everything. Reilly had really bad tape worms! We are hoping and purraying the roundworms are causing them to feel yucky! If they are still not doing right by Wednesday, they will go back in for further testing. Please purr and purray that Sebas and Rei start eating some A/D tonight! Oh, and the traps are set for their momma and other siblings.

♫ Well who are you? (Who are you? Who? Who? Who? Who?)♫

This is Scruffy, he lives in another subdivision about a mile and a half away. He comes to visit us quite often, sometimes twice a day. He travels by back road or by creek and sometimes with his partner in crime, a golden retriever named Crosby. Our man servant, who adores him, takes him back home to his fence after he and Dixie Dog play, but he always finds his way back to our house. He is a small pooch and his fence has large gaps, not a good combo. He's a good little woofie and kinda cute too!

Sweet Leaf

We've got fresh cat nip and mint! The lady potted them for us over the weekend. She read about a very cool cat herb garden in a magazine, but since we can't go outside..... she wanted to make us an indoor container garden. She is still on the lookout for cat mint, valerian, and cat thyme. She can't seem to find any where we live.
Every morning she has to clean up little pieces of the leaves where we have nommed them all over the table during the night. We have cat nip parties and sometimes we get a little rowdy...hehehe!
She laughed when she saw the label on our cat nip....... "non-addictive." :-)

Thanks to everyone who stopped in to wish Maggie May a Happy 1st Birthday! Maggie May really enjoyed being princess for the day. Although, it's no different than any other day, she is always a princess!

Won't Get Fooled Again

Cal is a complex individual, with a complex disease, IBD. His appetite waxes and wanes, his stools are normal one day, "Cal pies" the next, likes a food one week, the next week not so much, etc.

See the picture above? This was last Tuesday. Now, last Tuesday the lady brought home this bag of food she had special ordered at the cat food store. It has duck, limited ingredients, and great reviews. As soon as she snipped a hole in the top, Cal jumped in head first. This made the lady very happy because he would no longer eat the food he was once so fond of. Well, Cal really loved this new food.....for all of 3 days.

See what happens with Cal is this......

Cal loves a food and then will just stop eating it altogether. So the lady will go to the cat food store, get a couple of cans of a different food, bring it home and Cal just loves it. The lady hits the internet and orders a case, you know, cause it's cheaper than the cat food store. The lady gets an email confirmation that the food is on it's way.......then BAM! Just like clockwork --Cal refuses to eat the food, wouldn't touch it with a ten foot tail, he's just not that into it! Now, the lady is all too aware that switching foods in an IBD cat is not a good thing, but it's like the vet told her.......Cal has to eat.

The lady never learns, Cal has fooled her more times than she can count. I mean, just look at our stash of foods. Looks like we're stockpiling for the apocalypse! She can't help it though, seeing Cal have interest in food, sends her running to the internet to find the best deal and/or coupons for whichever food he is into that week. This week just so happens to be Chick-hen Soup dry kitten food...........why not! Since there are seven of us and the lady feeds two feral colonies, this food will be put to good use. She keeps it on hand for a while to re-introduce the food to Cal to see if he will give it another try.
