See the picture above? This was last Tuesday. Now, last Tuesday the lady brought home this bag of food she had special ordered at the cat food store. It has duck, limited ingredients, and great reviews. As soon as she snipped a hole in the top, Cal jumped in head first. This made the lady very happy because he would no longer eat the food he was once so fond of. Well, Cal really loved this new food.....for all of 3 days.See what happens with Cal is this......
Cal loves a food and then will just stop eating it altogether. So the lady will go to the cat food store, get a couple of cans of a different food, bring it home and Cal just loves it. The lady hits the internet and orders a case, you know, cause it's cheaper than the cat food store. The lady gets an email confirmation that the food is on it's way.......then BAM! Just like clockwork --Cal refuses to eat the food, wouldn't touch it with a ten foot tail, he's just not that into it! Now, the lady is all too aware that switching foods in an IBD cat is not a good thing, but it's like the vet told her.......Cal has to eat.

The lady never learns, Cal has fooled her more times than she can count. I mean, just look at our stash of foods. Looks like we're stockpiling for the apocalypse! She can't help it though, seeing Cal have interest in food, sends her running to the internet to find the best deal and/or coupons for whichever food he is into that week. This week just so happens to be Chick-hen Soup dry kitten food...........why not! Since there are seven of us and the lady feeds two feral colonies, this food will be put to good use. She keeps it on hand for a while to re-introduce the food to Cal to see if he will give it another try.
We want to give a big thank you to The Cat Street Boyz for this pawsome award! You guys rock!

We are very sad that Cal has IBD, but all those foodies look yummy!
I don't think I have IBD but do the same with food as Cal. MM thinks I'm silly. Some food tastes good for a little while, then forget it. Or I'll eat just one kind of food in the kitchen, and want a different one in my bedroom just for snacking. Gotta keep our peoples on their toes, ya' know!
Poor cal. Have you tried re-introducing a food a couple of weeks after he stops eating it? maybe like six to 8/ weeks later? perhaps he will have his apetite back for a certain food after that time. hmmn. worth a shot.
thanks for your wonderful message and purr-rayers for our family. we need them right now.
Love

Oh mom knows that feeling. One thing your mom might want to think about is that you can get the limited ingredient foods at the vet. Mom buys us the Venison and Green Peas dry from the vet (Ernie has to have special diet food so we all get it). Our vet will take back the food if we don't eat. That hasn't been a problem with us cuz we all love the Venison and Green Peas food. Don't know if your vet has the same policy, but it's a thought....
And congrats on your award too!
um ... u call dis "won't get fooled again" but i hav to say ... az a cat hoo likez to fool hiz mom ... u will definitlee get fooled again ... but i hope dat maybe, cal will find sumthin he likez an stick to it!
i am sorree abowt da ibd ... i will purr fer u, cal!
luv--jh
Cal, I have to say you sure do keep your Mom busy! It's clear she loves you very much and wants you to eat well, so give her just a teensy break, OK? Mabe go 4 days of eating the same food instead of 3!!!
Thanks for the great award - you guys rock!
Smoochies!
Congrats on the award!
I have a similar problem with Delilah but I think her reason for changing taste is freshness. Good luck with Cal!
That sounds not so good. Olivia is a bit choosy to, but I eat everything - including Olivia's left overs. But then we get different food - imported from Germany - all the time.
Hope the disease is not too serious.

Boy does that sound familiar! Mom buys cases and cases of our food from Petfooddirect.com and since they are close, she saves money and picks it up. Well, one time we ALL decided we didn't want that food anymore and there were sooo many cases left. Mommy took them to, Save the Cats and she came home with TANG!!! Then she saved up more food and other stuff, again went to Save the Cats.....in comes TEAK...we had better keep eating our food or else!!!!!!=^Y^=the Cat Street Boyz
Wow, our mom thought SHE had it rough with 3 new foods in 2 months, but you, geez, you've got a whole CAT FOOD STORE in your kitchen! Maybe you can rotate the older ones into the mix and Cal will eat them and think they are new ones? We were going to suggest YOU eat them, like we told our mom to do with all the 'extra' foods we have, 'cuz if they're good enough for the cats, they have to be good enough for the people, right - but our mom told us to stop sassin'. Sorry! Anyway, Pig now eats Hill's Prescription Diet in the D/D formula - it is duck and peas - very limited ingredients and he's having normal poops now, most days. He did not love it in the beginning but when it's all he was being offered, well, he quickly learned to like it. And the vet said he HAD to eat it so mom waited a few days longer than she wanted to see if he'd get into it, finally, thankfully, he did. He likes it a lot now! Maybe you can donate the unworthy foods to a shelter in your area?
We hope Cal feels better soon! It's so hard to find the right food in these cases. We hope today is the day! We know it's hard to watch your baby not want to eat :(
We are SO excited for the award - thank you so much! We're very touched! Sniff! Thanks!

Poor buddie :( Yummy problems are just horrible! My sisfurs is very extra sensitive and she will only eat certain dry foods and some of them she can;t a cause she can't keep them down.. however I iz just plain old fussy, momma does not let me get aways with it though...she gives me brekky ifs I does not like it and not eat it she will leave it there till I do even a whole day before I get new stuff... I think she thinks ifs I am hungry I will eat it, and she knows that they dry food is always available too.

Oh gosh, we tried that duck and green pea limited ingredient diet with Harley, too! Since it did not help, we gave it to the shelter. Harley is getting another bad bout of EGC and just got a 4th Depo-Medrol shot. It's hard when you have a cat with a chronic condition, for sure!
That must drives the lady nuts as it is such an ironic situation. She wants the best for him, is willing to go to great lengths and costs and then he simply doesn't eat it - or stops to. We thought that introducing the old food after a while as if it were new could help, but surely she has tried that already... Sometimes it is really strange. Mom decided to feed Siena a really good food (she was already used to eating anyway) and the moment she walked through the door she wouldn't touch it. Mom knows what she eats now and only buys these brands, but she's a fussy eater anyway and eats very few bites only. The rest is for little Chilli. The food she doesn't like must still be invented. Cal, pleeeeez, give your mom a break and just do once what she wants you to! Eat that darn great food!
Purrs!
WOW! That's quite a food store you gots there Cal!
Oh, that is not good to have this IBD disease!!!
That would be not easy with Luna and Luzie, they are very choosy with food too. I bought a new food and after two days they don´t like it anymore.
Congrats to your awards!!!
Well we do the same here. Mom wants us to eat the "better quality foods" and we do, for a few days then the yuck factor hits. Currently we have a nice bags of Wellness Core and several cans of Wellness sitting around. None of us have chronic conditions, except Shaggy's obese, so it more a matter of limiting how much is put down at one time whether canned or dry.
Oh, there is nothing sadder than a kitty that won't eat! I hope Cal finds something his tastebuds and digestive system will enjoy forever and make life a whole lot easier on mom.
Has Cal always done this, or is this behavior new since having IBD? Maybe the frequent changes in food don't agree with his tummy. Although on pred. he should be hungry. I'd keep a few cans to rotate later and see if he likes it again, and donate the rest or feed it to the ferals. I know this is very frustrating for you. And it's so important he eats!
Poor Cal...that must be tough to never be able to stick with one food. Its a good thing that he has a family that loves him enough to help him through this!
So sorry about the IBD. I have done the same thing with my mom. She has probably thrown away as many opened cans as I have eaten.
Cal you are so silly! I'm wondering if you might be playing your mom. When one of us has to get a new food, we all have to eat it whether we like it or not! We are ok with the Green Pea and Duck food and everyone's digestive system seems to be happier. The last time we went to the store it looked like there were lots more people making limited ingredient food, but mom says they are all REALLY expensive and they don't make big bags so she has written the people who make the food to make larger bags for families like ours. Good luck on finding food nirvana Cal!
My guys will eat anything... Remember Mikey from the LIFE cereal commercial... Give it to Mikey- he'll eat anything...
Cal- R U playing a silly trick on the lady?
Will Cal eat boiled up chicken or anything like that? This way if he grows weary you can make chicken salad?
Just a thought... CC
oh... I see why your lady asked me my cat's raw food brand. When my cat suffered itchiness caused by food allergy, my friend recommend to read these sites for learn cat's raw food diet.
I'm not sure a raw food diet is good for Cal, however after I read these sites, I was very regret that I fed my cats dry foods, even "the all natural" ones...

Oh Cal you are a cat after my heart! Course not the sick part, sorry about that. I do this refusing of food all the time, soon as the case is purchased. Mom has a similar pile of food by the door which she calls the "Kibble Bone Yard." Excellent work!
Good luck~!!!
I also have a little bit food problem,
but Michico tries her best to let me eat very good~!
I think your mommy also very great to let you eat great!
perhaps everycat face the same probs..
xoxo
We are sorry you have IBD. We do the same as you though. We both get Eric's special crunchies in the morning which we pick at, but they are usually all gone by night time. We get Stinky Goodness at night which we only like for three or four days so then mum has to get a different sort that is suitable for both of us. She buys sachets instead of tins because she was throwing most of it away before. We share a sachet and when that is gone, we can have another one.
