My bed finally arrived and I had it all to myself for oh, I'd say about 30 seconds...........

Then Cal joined me..........

Then, Maizy Grace and Maggie May took over and I went upstairs.........

I don't know yet if I'm in love with my new bed. Didn't get much of a "test drive," so to speak............

You know what they say........everything is a cat bed! Truer words have never been spoken!

Maggie May, don't get too cozy on that bed, I may need it back!

**A note from Dixie Dog**

Maybe if I give really good puppy dog eyes, my new bed will get here sooner.

Our furry floofy friends over at Crazy Cat Lady Carm sent us some pics of thier "kitty bedroom loft" and it has give our lady servant lots of good ideas for out loft. Thanks Carm and kitties!

Things Goin' On

A few interesting things happened over the weekend here on the creek. The servants sold the pool table that was up in the loft and not being used. The lady is unsure what to do with the space now, perhaps an art studio or maybe a very cool kitty playground!
Sometime on Friday night, somekitty puked all over Dixie dog's bed. We don't know who exactly, but smart money is on Cal. The lady took one look at the bed and said there was no way she was cleaning that mess up and decided Dixie needed a new bed anyway. Dixie has been using our blue fishy bed every since. Yeah, it's waaaay too small for Dixie.
So, on Monday, the lady took the money from the pool table sale and hit the Internet. Petco was having a good sale and free shipping! She bought Dixie a very nice new bed that is off the ground, like a cot. We're sure Maizy Grace will enjoy the new bed as well. For us kitties she bought a water fountain!! Cal's prednisilone really makes him thirsty and pee a massive flood. For the first time in his 10 years of life, he has started drinking out of the kitchen faucet. The lady is hoping the new fountain will satisfy his need for flowing water.We can't wait for our cool new stuff to arrive!

***Update on Pop***

Pop had a pretty good appointment yesterday. The dr. believes he is improving. There is still infection in the foot bone, which causes his whole foot to swell and turn purple every time he puts it on the floor. The dr. has decided to cut back on the least potent antibiotic and remain the same on the strongest one. He will need another 3-4 weeks of IV antibiotics and then probably another 1-2 weeks of oral antibiotics.

Thanks for all the purrs, you are all so very wonderful! Now we need to add our Nana to the purr list (she is the lady's mom and was Caddy Caddy's mom.) She learned yesterday at the human vet that she has Hashimoto's disease and high blood pressure. She will be going to see an internist soon to hopefully get both conditions under control.

Letters From Home - A Note From CC

A little update from CC! Yesterday we received an email from CC, it went a little something like this..........

Just thought I would send ya'll a message and let you know that I'm doing good. It took me a little bit getting used to the new family, but after a couple of days I snuggled right up to them. The daughter bean is in love with me, she calls me her "num num" lol. Even my new daddy likes me and snuggles with me. As soon as my new mom can figure out the camera we'll send ya'll some pics.

Anyway I'm doing fine and they're all falling for that 4 footed feline (me.)

Hurt

Our pop needs more purrs!

Our Pop's foot is really hurting him today and he had a bad night last night because of swelling and throbbing pain. This is his second week of IV antibiotics using the 2 strongest medicines available for osteomyelitis or bone infection. He is currently taking one of the medicines every 3 hours and the other medicine every 8 hours. He really needs some strong purrs to knock the infection out of his foot. Monday, the 26th, he will be going to the human vet for a recheck to see if any progress has been made. We pray he will get some good news at that appointment.
Thanks for all the purrs so far, we just ask that you keep them coming!

Cold As Ice - Movie

It hardly ever snows here on the coast of North Carolina. However, Tuesday afternoon brought 4 inches of snow!!! Our servants were released from work kinda early, when they got home, we had some fun!

Although the snow was exciting we couldn't help but think about those kitties who don't have warm homes. We purray they all found shelter from the flurries.

Hangin' Tough - Updates

***Update on Cal***

Cal's lady servant/mom here! Cal went to the vet yesterday for a check up for his IBD. Since his last appointment in November, just two months ago, he has lost a whole pound. Cal now weighs in at 9.5 lbs. He was a tad dehydrated so the vet gave him some fluids. In addition to his once a day dosage of prednisilone, she added a probiotic called Fortiflora. This probiotic will help with his digestive issues, like diarrhea. His food has been switched to Science Diet R/D for the high fiber content. I am not a huge fan of SD, however, I am a huge fan of him eating and gaining weight. He loves his new food (at the moment) and doesn't even notice the probiotic that I mix in. He also had to have his anal glands expressed, which he did not like one bit!

This morning Cal seems to be doing great. He is eating and his stool was normal this morning with zero blood. I feel we are getting back on track. The vet requested we drop into the office in about 2 weeks or so for a weight check. We pray he will have gained some by then!

***Update on Pop***

Pop is scheduled to be released from the hospital today. Yesterday, the doctors installed a picc line into his right arm. This picc line will be kept in for the next two months as he will be doing at home IV antibiotics. He will do 3 hours in the AM and three hours in the PM everyday for the next 6-8 weeks. We are all hopeful the antibiotics will kill the infection that has settled into his foot bone.

All of us on the creek would like to thank everyone for all the purrs and purrayers so far. You are all so very wonderful! Please continue purring and purraying for both Cal and Pop.

***Purrs Needed***

Our lady servant's father, our Pop, has been in the hospital since Monday. He stepped on a nail at work and now has an infection in the bone. He is on very strong antibiotics and is unable to put any pressure on his foot. He will have to remain on IV antibiotics for another six weeks. Please purr for his recovery!

Cal will be going to the vet tomorrow. He has bloody stools once again. Please purr for him as well!

***Snoopy Update***

A note from Snoopy's new parents:
Snoopy is adjusting very well we are all very happy with her. I will try to send some pictures and another update soon. I'm not sure if she was named Snoopy because of how curious she is but the name does fit her we will keep it.

She loves to play, is very active and also affectionate. I'm glad to hear CC found a good home also.

We are enjoying her very much. She is the perfect addition we were looking for. Thank you very much!

Something In The Way

The lady often refers to our home as an obstacle course. Every morning before leaving for work she puts a bar stool in front of the cat door going to our litter boxes to keep Dixie out. Yes, Dixie will squeeze her butt right on through that little cat door in order to get some "treats" -- I know, gross! Dixie still manages to get in by moving the barstool so I don't know why the lady still insist on putting it in front of the door. The man is contemplating a solution to the "Dixie cat door problem,"-- he has been contemplating for a while. So, until he comes up with a solution the lady will keep up the senseless act of putting the barstool in front of the door. Creature of habit, that woman!
She puts pillows on the back of the couch so we will not leave indentions of our bodies in the cushions. Now, as you can see, it's very effective :)

So obviously the barstool and pillows are futile attempts to block us, but there are a few barricades we can't quite pass. Like the pink ferret leash on the bi fold doors going to the pantry. The leash was put in place after Cal went on his midnight binge of Dixie's dog food, sending his fragile digestive system into a tailspin. He has yet to fully recover, just ask the lady as she hollers for "more paper towels, please!"
Everytime the lady and man leave the house these chairs are stacked on the couch to keep Dixie's furs off. It is very effective against Dixie, however, we think they make very cool tee pee huts!
And lastly the brand new gate at the bottom of the stairs. Before the lady bought the gate she blocked the stairway with two barstools and our pirate ship-- what is it with her and barstools? That barrier was not strong enough against the tidal wave known as Dixie, so the lady dropped quite a few green papers on this heavy duty, extra wide, ain't-nothin'-getting-through-this-baby, gate. Well, nothing except a cat. It has a small cat door on the bottom, so small in fact, Dixie can't squeeze her butt through. It even has a locking "human door" so the lady doesn't have to try to jump over it, which on a stairway could prove quite hazardous. So Dixie hasn't figured a way around this one yet. It is in place to keep her out of the loft, where for some reason she liked to use as her own personal "indoor patch of grass."
So, when you come on over to our house, be sure to push the door hard enough to move the barstool, unlock the leash to the pantry to grab a snack, throw the chairs in the floor and have a seat, but try not to knock the cats off the back of the couch when you sit down.

Don't Forget To Remember Me

Well, today I was adopted by a very nice woman named Melissa. This was very unexpected and out of the blue and we all had one hours notice to prepare to say goodbye. I am very excited to move into my new home, which is also on a creek about 30 minutes away. My new mom, Melissa, is very nice and she has a husband and two kidbeans ages 4 and 9. I think I will fit in very well with all of them and their black lab too, who reminds me of the Dixie dog.

My new mom has promised to send updates and I will have one of the creek cats post them for me. Although I am sad to leave the creek cats and my foster parents I am excited to start a new chapter in my life, with my new family. I think our departed caretaker, Brent, would be very happy with the new families the servants have chosen for us.

Like Snoopy says, it's not goodbye, it's goodbye for now.

Don't You Forget About Me

I just wanted to say goodbye to all the great friends I have met in the cat blogosphere, I won't forget you! I am going to a new home today and I have to say goodbye for now. I am very excited to go to my new home and be the only "childcat." I will no longer have to worry about another cat coming along and stealing my mouse, my food, my looney-loop, or my red dot (still haven't caught that darn red dot!) I may or may not walk around my new home, mouse in mouth, growling.......we'll just have to see. I know the servants and the creek cats will miss me doing that around here.

I'ts not goodbye, it's goodbye for now.

This picture is of our man servant acting silly and giving the niece, Kayla a piggy back ride before pre-school one morning a few years ago. We are guessing she was about 3 years old in this picture. The man and lady used to take Kayla to pre-school every morning for her mother, who as a nurse, had to be to work very early. Now, Kayla's Nana takes her to kindergarten and we don't see her as often. She was lots of fun and never pulled our tails! My how time flies! We can't believe how much she has grown since this picture, seems like only yesterday!

We are tagging anyone who wants to play! It's fun......go for it!

*Important News*

Now for some important Creek news, we are losing a roommate.........because Snoopy has been adopted!!! The lady got an email on Wednesday about an ad she placed for CC and Snoopy, the fosters. A very nice man and his wife who live an hour and a half away want to adopt her! The lady received personal and vet references from the nice man and everything checked out! The lady was very excited to know that Snoopy was going to be an only cat and she was going to be very spoiled. Snoopy is a very independent girl and is pretty self-sufficient and would rather play alone or with a human.

The servants will be meeting the adoptive parents half way on Saturday and will have to say goodbye to that sweet girl. Although the lady and man are sad to see Snoopy go, they are confident she will thrive in her new home and will be the center of attention, as she likes it!

This is the first "successful" foster for the servants. Maizy and Ferris were also fosters, but they ended up adopting them after a few weeks. Maggie May was a foster as well, for about a minute! Now it's CC's turn to find a wonderful forever home!

I have never had my own post before, so this is my first! This collage was from Saturday. It was a beautiful day filled with sunshine!

I thought I would give a little background on me so here goes.

I was abandoned by my previous owner who was a hunter back in 2001. Supposedly he paid lots of money for me, but I was one dog who just wouldn't hunt! He moved to a new home and left me behind in a 10x10 kennel with a 5 gallon bucket of algea water and no plans of ever coming back for me. He even said if someone didn't come and get me he would put a bullet in my head -- nice guy, huh! What a sweetheart! The lady's brother told her what the mean hunter had done and said. The lady and man had recently lost their rescued chocolate lab Rocky, but didn't have plans on getting another dog. After hearing my story, they couldn't resist, they came and rescued me! I'd never been so happy in all my life! I love living at the house on the creek and having lots of brofurs and sisfurs.

Of course, I do things sometimes that gets me in trouble, like when I get into the trash (especially on spaghetti night) or eat an entire bag of dog food and have to go to the vet for x-rays and "bloat watch," or that time I ate two bags of ghirardeli chocolates (wrappers too), or the time I was poisoned by a tainted pig ear --but that wasn't my fault! See, I used to bury my pig ears and at the old house we used to get the yard sprayed for bugs and the sprayer guy sprayed my pig ear hole and it almost killed me! I had to get lots of fluids and charcoal! Now the house has been outfitted like an obstacle course to keep me off of things and out of places I shouldn't be :)

Ok, so I am no angel, but really.....who is!

Bad Boys

Hi everyone, Cal here. I would like to start off this post by thanking everyone for stopping by and wishing us all a Happy New Year! Next we would like to thank Kimo and Sabi for this pawsome book we won in their drawing a few weeks ago. Thanks guys!!!

Now I am going to tell you that I have been a very bad boy. Yep, that's right......I am bad! I am a bad Cal! A few nights ago while everyone was sleeping, I pried open the bi-fold doors to the pantry and had a little midnight snack. I was able to break into Dixie's food bin and then tore my way into a bag of kitty crunchies the lady feeds to ferals. Truth be told I had a little help from my partner in crime, Ferris. He is very good at prying doors open!

When the lady came down stairs for our 6:30 am feeding the next morning she couldn't understand why we weren't running around crazy and meowing for our breakfast, it was odd behavior, we were calm! Then she noticed the pantry doors were wide open and proceeded to blame the man servant for leaving them open after getting a snack, which he denied and she didn't believe...hehehe! Then the evidence was discovered, yeah, we are not too good at covering our tracks. Her half-asleep eyes didn't notice the shredded bag under the pantry rack upon first inspection. What did get her full attention was the not-to-pleasant surprise in the litter box. Since I suffer from IBD, I am only supposed to eat my special canned foods. Eating anything else will literally run right through me, and it did! So that morning I received a bath and some meds. I am happy to report I am feeling much better.
