Whiskers

Yesterday, Whiskers was supposed to be neutered. Well, he ended up testing positive for FIV. Ugh! I found out around lunch time and ran over to the vet to see him. I have zero control over what the shelter and the accepting rescue decides, I am only a foster. I don't like having no control, it makes me very uncomfortable. I'm a bit of a control freak, actually. When I saw him in the cage at the vet's office, I got very emotional just thinking it might be the last time I saw him. Waiting on word from the rescue about whether or not they would still accept him was rough. If not, he would be returned to the shelter. Although, I would have done anything in my power to adopt him myself and find him a home. About two hours later they gave the decision......The rescue in VA was going to take him and find him a great home! I don't know the last time I've felt such relief.
Because it was so late in the day, they had to postpone the neuter until today. He had to stay at the vet overnight and will be neutered this morning. Please everyone purr and pray for smooth surgery with no complications!

Good luck Whiskers! Hoping the surgery goes well and he has a very good life in a forever home.

And lots of purrs and headbonks to you - you must have had what Äiti calls 'a rollercoaster from hell day' with all the ups and downs. I hope your crew are extra snuggly with you today.

Lots of purrs and prayers for Whiskers. We are hoping for a successful surgery. I think I have read where there are places that take FIV kitties. I don't remember where they are but I am sure the people that are going to take him at the rescue in VA know about them. Poor thing, I hope he finds a good home.Have a better day.

Deep rumbly purrs and a sock song dedicated to Whiskers from me.

My most favorite cat in the whole wide world (besides my momma) was my beloved Jonathan ::bows head::.

Jonathan was FIV+ but he lived a good long life with all of us kitties and he was somewhere around 20-23 years old when he finally faded away. We miss him everyday. He never spread the virus to any of us.

We will purr that Whiskers finds a wonderful forever home.

Big purrs, Cory

Meowm saw a Toyger in Petsmart the other day, she was so beautiful, and FIV+ as well. If she didn't have us, she would have brought her home.

I'm glad the rescue is going to take Whiskers, he deserves a safe and happy home!

From what I have read, cats with FIV can live long and full lives,

I was relieved too that the rescue is going to do right by Whiskers! Whew! Sending purrs for a quick and uncomplicated procedure!

I totally know that anxiety over waiting for such a decision. I am sure he will find a great home. I know someone who got all her cats vaccinated against FIV and a cat who is FIV positive joined her - is very contented there.

Thanks for all you do for the cats!
