Whiskers and Glinda - The New Fosters!

Meet our new foster cats, Whiskers and Glinda. Whiskers is a 3 year old, long-haired gray boy. He's quite stinky right now because he hasn't been neutered yet. He will be neutered tomorrow. He has been at our local shelter since March 2010. Glinda is a 1 1/2 year old black, long-haired beauty. She has been at our shelter since May 2010. She is very playful, but quite camera shy. They will both be transported to a rescue in Virginia on Saturday, August 7 2010.
The strong, pungent odor from Whiskers urine nearly drove us out of the house. It was horrible and it permeated throughout the entire house. I have really gotten it under control and bearable, thank goodness! I purchased a small window fan to draw the smell out for the room. Secondly, I got bought 2 Fabreeze Air Purifiers and found a product at Bed, Bath and Beyond called Freshwave Odor Neutralizing Gel. This gel is quite amazing!! It seriously works to absorb the odor and doesn't mask it. I highly recommend it for pet odors. I just opened the jar and put it in the room. It is non-toxic and uses natural ingredients that are safe for pets and humans.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by to wish Saylor a Happy 1st Gotcha Day yesterday!! She got some really big news on her special day.....She and Maggie May were chosen to be in the 10th Anniversary, 2011 Marley Fund calendar! There were over 300 entries and they were both chosen. Maggie May will be January and Saylor will be September. You can check out the facebook link HERE. Of course, we will let everyone know when the calendars go on sale! The calendar raises money to educate the public and raise awareness about FIV and FeLV.

Those are a couple of cuties! We wish them a safe journey to the rescue group and we hope they both find furever homes! We'll hafta have our mom look for that odor remover gel. She's always concerned about stinky smells in the house! (But we don't stink!!)

Wow. We just want to say a great big giant THANK YOU!!! for being so kind and fostering kitties. Not many peoples would do that for a stinky cat. Momma says she's going to try to find that gel at BB&B (even though we're two non-stinky kitties we DO have a litterbox) And congrats to Maggie and Saylor! We'll have to go check it out......

Well we certainly will buy one with those two on the calender. Can't wait. I am going to have to get some that stuff to get the smell out of the house with as many cats as I have here. Thanks for that info. Congrats on getting on the calender. Well done.
Have a great day.

Concats to Maggie and Saylor...the most beautiful calendar girls ever!

As for Whiskers...we remember when our Nigel was first here and he was so stinky! He denies it of course. Even after his neuter it took a week or 2 for the smell to go away.

Thank you for being so wonderful to take care of these babies!

And many concats to Maggie and Saylor for being calendar girls. We couldn't see the previews because we're not on Facebook, but please let us know when it goes on sale - it sounds like a great calendar for a great cause.

P.S. Please wish the lovely Miss Saylor a belated happy birthday from us! She has the same birthday that we do.

Oops! We messed up - it was Saylor's gotcha day and not her birthday! (It's all the human's fault!) Please give her all our best!

Whiskers and Glinda are adorable. We hope they find new purrfect homes quickly. It is terrible that they were in the shlter for so long, and Whiskers not neutered. We are glad they have landed in your care, even if it is for a short time.

We missed Saylors Gotcha Day, so Happy belated Gotcha Day Saylor!!!

We are excited for Whiskers & Glinda...we hope they find good homes soon. That TommyTomTom smell is quite the scent, isn't it? Maui was the same way...it was amazing, he got neutered, and within 48 hour, no more stink! His body smelled Tommy-ish for a lot longer...weird.

Mommy is gonna make a note of that gel...we're sure it will come in handy. heh heh.

Congrats to Saylor & Maggie May - Yay!! We'll have to check out that calendar!! (& Happy *belated* Gotcha Day, Saylor!!!)

We know EXACTLY what you mean about a stinky Tommy cat smell - Simon has JUST stopped his stinkiness. Our Mom says it doesn't sound like he was as bad as Whiskers's Tommy smell - some mancats can be really stinky!! We truly hope Whiskers & Glinda have a safe trip to Virginia (what part of Virginia? We used to live in Hampton Roads)

Have a great day!!

~Nico, Simon & JayJay :)

ps. Our Mom bought the same oder neutralizer thing for the laundry/our litterbox room - she thinks it's wonderful!!

Those fosters are very pretty! We thank you for recommending the two air purifiers, just as we were searching for a solution. Mom took in two cats for a friend of our boy a couple years ago. They stayed for about 3 weeks in the basement but one of them did a lot of marking. Now that it is humid out the basement stinks to high heaven. the only permanent solution is to remove the carpet, but until that happens mom will try these things you wrote about.
Congrats to Saylor and Maggie May and Happy Happy Gotcha Day to you, Saylor!
