Sweetie the Foster Update

Sweetie hasn't been eating, so I've been force feeding her which she hates. I've also been loading her up on Nutrical, Liqui-tinic, Lysine and antibiotics. The vet on Friday thought she was just stressed and that's why she wasn't eating and feeling well. In addition to inappetance, she is now sneezing and has runny eyes and nose. It's quite frustrating when a cat won't eat and it's even more frustrating to not know a single thing about her past medical history. Maybe she had a favorite food she would eat or maybe her appetite had started to dwindle a while ago and her owners surrendered her thinking she was sick. I don't know. What I do know is she is only 7lbs and cannot afford to skip meals.
I gave her a second bath and the dead fleas and flea dirt was still coming off of her. She has another vet appointment on Wednesday for her vaccines and deworming. Hopefully, she will be feeling better by then.
A friend who fosters for Siamese Rescue has offered me the use of a nebulizer. I will be picking it up today after work. Hope it helps clear her up so she can smell the food. She has to be one of the cutest kitties ever!!!

Sweetie really is very cute! I am still mad at whoever left her in this awful condition! I am keeping my paws crossed that clearing up her sniffles will do a lot to bring back her appetite!

Awww my goodness!! Poor Sweetie!! I think if she has runny eyes and nose and is sneezing then it's more than just stress? Oh I hope the vaccines and de-worming will help! I'm sure her bath and your wonderful TLC helps even more! I hope she gets some anti-biotics? A shot of vitamins too? Poor baby!

Me and Charlie are sending Sweet Sweetie and you lovely people at Creek Cats tons and tons of purrs!!

Oh, the poor kitty... Is it cat flu, you think? Lack of appetite, sneezes and runny nose... Sort of sounds like it.

She so gorgeous!

Poor Sweety. We are sending tons of purrs and prayers that she gets better. Maybe the antibiotics are curbing her appetite but it sure sounds like she needs them right now if she is sneezing. Dana, Sweety sure has hit the lottery being fostered by you. Thank heavens you were the one to take her. We will keep our paws crossed that she gets better really soon.

Poor Sweetie. I hope whoever let her get like this gets a serious case of fleas themselves.

I am sorry Sweetie is not feeling better. It must be extra-hard to be stuffed up with her sweet tiny little nose.

Oh we hope Sweetie feels better soon! Our Mom gets very worried when one of us doesn't eat because she had a cat that developed Lipidosis from not eating. We are happy that Sweetie is with you and we're sending big purrs that she's better soon!

Poor baby! My mom has been reading about Sweetie on FB and I had to come over to check on her. I bet Sweetie is very stressed and just needs some comforting hugs and attention. (That's me talking as a Persian). When I wouldn't eat, the vet suggested that my mom warm my wet food for about 6 to 7 seconds in the microwave to enhance the flavor.

Good luck.

We are purring for you Sweetie...know that the whole CB family loves you!

Maybe you should hold off on the vaccines until she is eating. I know it makes our kitties "off" for a day or so.

Aw, poor baby! We're glad she has YOU! We're sending lots of purrs and healing Light that she gets better quickly. The lysine should help with the cold symptoms, so hopefully she'll be able to smell the food soon and thereby start eating. Good luck!

Have you tried heating up wet food? It brings out the aroma....might help her to smell it a bit better.

Raymond and I are from Pacific Siamese Rescue. They rescued our pregnant Mom from the shelter and that's how we were born. Good people!

Sending purrs to Sweetie! one thing I've tried before to help with colds is an antihistamine, half of a regular dose. This seems to dry up some of the snots and allow them to breathe a bit easier...maybe you could ask your vet if it would help Sweetie. I skinny, non-eating cat is frustrating....Tanner said you can have some of his extra fat, if that would help!

oh my goodness Sweetie is adorable. so cute!

it sounds like an upper respiratory infection perhaps? pengy had that and couldnt breath right nor smell her food. when they cant smell it they wont eat.

the vet put her on antibiotic (pink) amoxicillin? or similar, i cannot recall. but it worked magic. within days she was better.

we will purr for Sweetie pie.

& thanks for commenting on our slideshow of the kittens :)
