*An eartip is the removal of the top 1/4 of the ear (usually the left) under anesthesia and it's the universal symbol that a feral, stray or free-roaming cat has been sterilized and vaccinated against rabies. To feral cat colony caretakers, an eartip is a beautiful sight to see!

Well darn, none of my feral cats got ears tipped. Guess they don't know the rules over here. Do they do kittens too??? Anyway, it is fun to see all those tipped cats. We are always excited to see feral cats all fixed up.

Georgia had an ear tip clip in her ear--we suspect that she was considered a stray by someone until she decided to adopt us.
Eartips make this crazy cat lady BEYOND happy! Love seeing all these tipped kitties.

That is great - we had read about the ear tipping before - we haven't really seen it often though - I guess we just don't notice it on any of our formerly feral friends. But it is great to see on so many outdoor kitties!

Those are some gorgeous kitties! Thanks for taking such good care of them. We have a small feral cat colony - we "managed" 15 at one time but we're down to 2 now. I admire the TNR people so much; it requires a lot of effort.

The eartips is a good idea. We never heard about that before. But how do Beins know when the rabies vaccination wears off? Do the eartips grow back in 3 years?
