Getting Better

Update on Cal

This photo was taken 10/24/07, it was just after he came home from his dental cleaning and he was still a little tanked. The vet had to give him extra juice because he was being such a little stinker. He weighed 14 lbs that day. Today he is weighing in at only 9lbs.

Cal did not eat anything yesterday. He didn't vomit anymore since the update yesterday.... until this morning. This morning, Cal ate about a teaspoons worth of wet food and not 20 minutes later it came right back out.....on the rug. So once he was finished expelling his breakfast he was given a 1/4 tab of Pepcid AC. Afterwards, the lady went to Pet Smart and bought two different kinds of cat food for sensitive tummies, some acidophilus, and Bene Bac.

Cal with his favorite person in the world, the man servant. This photo was from 10/28/07.

Cal went right for Royal Canin Digestive Special 33 cat food. Before she could pour a little bit in the bowl he stuck his head in the bag, this was a good sign. She only gave him a small amount and he ate it! After he ate she gave him some Bene Bac. So far he has held it down, hopefully the new food agrees with him. Now she can return the other bag she bought.

Thanks to all for the comments, purrs, purrayers, suggestions, etc. We have some great friends and wonderful support!

**The lady wants to know why cats choose to vomit on rugs and not on a slick (easy to clean) surface. She has 3 small rugs in the whole house and the rest is hardwood/linoleum. She says it doesn't matter where we are, if we start puking, we will run to the nearest rug. hehehe**

Left a comment under the Update on Cal about homeopathic treatments for vomiting. I wanted to add Phosphorus when cats vomit right after eating and it is not even digested. Same dose 3-4 times a day to stop it and if needed once a day for 5 days.

Oh Cal, I hope you will be all fine soon! Sending comforting purrs from Germany, Siena.

We will purr that this food agrees with Cal!

I try to at least get the carpet rahter than the bed when I puke.~~Junior

I don't care where I hit, as long as the nasty stuff comes out.~~Orion

Cal, I am glad you found a good food that you enjoy! I hope you will be able to keep it down and gain some weight back. Do not worry, I always run off the tiled floor and onto the rug to vomit, too!

I'm glad the new food agreed with Cal. I hope with the food for sensitive stomachs and the other things you're giving Cal he'll stop vomiting for good. He needs to eat and beef up again!

Our cats always vomit on the carpet. Never seem to do it on the tile :/ Worse is the one who runs and vomits, giving us more spots to clean up. Ack.

The theory (I think) for puking on rugs is that they think they can cover it up with the carpet fibers. It at least gives them something to scratch at!

I pray that this new food is the answer for Cal's sensitive tummy! ;o)

Yay for holding the food down, Cal!

We think we prefer vomiting on the carpet for the same reason we prefer towels, blankets, laundry... We don't know what that reason is, but we think it is all the same reason!

We're doing the happy dance because Cal held down his food! All of us kitties run for a rug or carpet when we hack up a hairball or our dinner...I think those are the rules of being a cat.

I'm glad that you can eat again. We also like to puke on rugs and then try to bury it with anything nearby. Patches has gotten in the habit of jumping on tables, windowsills, dressers and then puking on the floor. She seems to enjoy watching it splatter and mom go ewww.
