This kitty could seriously be Maya's long lost sibling. No, really, he could. Maya and his sis Chevelle were found abandoned at an old horse stable in our neighborhood, not far from where we live about 10 years ago. The horse stable had a lot of cats, but it seemed the momma didn't want Maya and Chevelle and they were not in good shape. The horse stable is no longer and we don't know what happened to all the cats because we weren't living here when it was torn down. Perhaps the cats dispersed throughout the neighborhood and surrounding areas?This mystery kitty looks just like Maya! We've never seen it during the day, and we have no clue where it lives. Apparently, it hangs out with a raccoon because they were caught on the camera around the same time. The mystery black cat also hangs out with a raccoon. Yay for friendly raccoons!
Loving this trail/game camera that my friend loaned me! We've ordered one of our own and it should be here by the end of the week. As for Gretchen, the plan is to just keep monitoring her with the camera. I don't think there is going to be another trapping. That would be trapping number 4 for her and I don't think that's going to happen in a metal trap. She isn't around enough to use the drop trap again. If she stays around here and eats, that will be great and she will hopefully build trust and come around more and more. She is still in a much safer place than she was before. But, she probably feels like I'd feel if I were dropped in the middle of Egypt without a map or wallet. This is foreign territory to her. We need your continued purrs and positive thoughts for her, they always work!
