Cheddar Bo Update

6:30AM HAPPY UPDATE: They met me at the door this morning for the first time since the weekend. Their temperatures now range from normal to 103.7! Woo Hoo! Keep those cooling purrs coming!! Thanks so much! Well, we have a little improvement..... their fevers range from 103.4-104.6, no 105s. It's a slight improvement, but I'll take it :)

Every few hours I dab their pads with rubbing alcohol and mist down their bedding with cool water per the vets recommendations. That's basically all that can be done. They are on antibiotics and hopefully they are begining to take effect.

They have an awesome opportunity to travel non-stop to their rescue in NJ on Friday. This means no changing vehicles. The driver is a local volunteer. However, if they are still sick, they will miss this trip. The Flower girls will be able to go, so that is good.

Need lots and lots of prayers and cooling purrs so they can make this trip on Friday!!

The Flower Girls - URGENT PURRS NEEDED

UPDATE 3:05PM: The Cheddar Bos all had 104-105 fevers, so they are fighting some kind of infection. The vet has given them fluids and antibiotic injections. They are showing no signs of URIs so I had no clue they have infections. This came on so suddenly. I'm just thankful the vet was able to see them today and hopefully they will all come through just fine. Thanks so much for the prayers!! UPDATE 8:41AM: The Cheddar Bos were dropped off to the vet this morning because a few of them were having trouble walking and one of them was shivering. I have no clue what could be wrong with them and I'm so very worried. Please pray hard for them to be ok!!!!!

This photo cracks me up! Poppy does an awful lot of crying. I'm not sure why. Maybe she just wants attention? They go to the vet on Monday, at which time I will tell her Poppy cries a lot and is thinner than the other two. They all seem to be very healthy and eat very well! So that is great!

I got a call about these girls on Friday. They had to get out of the shelter asap or they would be put down. Luckily, the rescue who is taking the Cheddar Bos is going to take these girls too! They may go on transport on Friday! Paws crossed!

The Cheddar Bo Kittens

Meet the Cheddar Bo kittens. I named them the Cheddar Bo kittens after the Bojangles Cheddar Bo biscuit. YUM! There are 5 of them and they are about 8 weeks old. They all look so much a like, it's so hard to tell them apart. I also cannot determine genders yet. When I do, I plan on naming them after cheeses. They will be with me until Saturday. Then they will be going to the same NJ rescue as Redford and the Pasta Kittens






Here is the other litter (gray tabbies) that was also rescued from the shelter. I had them at my house for a few hours until their new foster mom came to get them. So crazy how all five kittens in both litters looked identical. There was no variety at all!Great news! Linguine of the Pasta Kittens was adopted the day after she arrived in NJ!

Pasta Kitten Update

The Pasta Kittens were spayed yesterday. Can you believe all three of them were in heat?!? They are only about 3.5lbs and look so small. I was shocked when the vet told me. Anyway, they are recovering well and will be leaving on Saturday for their journey up to New Jersey. Sure will miss these girls!

Sorry I've been M.I.A lately, got quite a bit going on..... I'm now the president of the TNR group, taking an online photoshop class, hitting the gym 5 days a week , fostering shelter kitties, hubby's mom was diagnosed with cancer (caught early!) and just trying to spend as much time as possible with family and the kitties. It's been a struggle trying to balance it all, but I'm trying.

Clean+Green Furniture Refresher

We recently purchased a new sectional sofa. We used to be able to keep Dixie Dog off the old, smaller sofa by putting the bar stools on top of it when we left for work. This new sofa is a monster and there is no keeping Dixie down.

Giardia

Yep, the kittens have Giardiasis, which is an intestinal infection caused by a protozoan parasite called Giardia intestinalis. Seems to be quite common in the shelter kittens we've pulled lately. So the kittens will be on a course of metronidazole and will not be able to travel on the transport this weekend as planned. Their health is more important, so they will be staying a while longer to recover.

Spaghetti Cats

Meet Tortellini, Rigatoni and linguine! They are the Spaghetti Cats and they are my 3 new fosters. I've had them a week already, but they've had some pretty bad health issues. They are getting over URIs and the vet gave them clavamox that completely tore their bellies to shreds. For a few days, there were completely unable to control their bowels. It was a huge mess. The clavamox has been stopped and they are on Amforol for their tummies. It has worked for the most part, but two of them are still having some problems. Tortellini

They will be traveling to their rescue in NJ on Saturday. They are going to the same rescue as Redford. By the way..... Redford was adopted the day after he arrived in NJ. This is what his new mom said:
"Hi. Thank u again for Redford. He's wonderful! I spent an hour with him and then left him alone to explore. I stopped by my house to check on him after he'd been alone a few hours and found him sleeping on my bed. He follows me from room to room and just wants to be wherever I am. It's cute that in my absence he sought my sent and camped out in my bed. I think he's accepted me as his mom :)"
