Gretchen Plays

On Thursday of last week, Gretchen played for the first time since being in the house. It was the first time I was able to interact with her, other than scritches and rubs. I've also been able to trim her front nails over the course of about three days. It's not easy. I'm having to snip them as they get snagged on the string toy or a pillow. She was like velcro and couldn't hardly walk across the bed without sticking and snagging. Most likely, she's never had a nail trim.
She's such a happy girl!!

We are so happy for Gretchen. We see her beginning to play as a sign she has settled into her noo forever home and feels loved and safe.
When yoor feral, there's not time to play. Yoo hafta spend all yoor time surviving.

That is amazing. The cat before me was probably at least semi-feral when my human found her as a kitten, and she was never into playing (my human liked to say she played for keeps). Although she did have a strange fascination with soap bubbles. But toys did not interest her. Not even crickets or moths. Her "toys" were mice and birds... and they doubled as treats.

Gretchen, to see you playing and read that you let your nails be clipped (we all give our mom a hassle about that!) is fantastic!

That is wonderful, and a huge step for her. It's interesting to see how her photos have progressed. She no longer has that "scared" face and looks a lot more calm.

So good that she is playing - some of our cats never played and had to learn - mostly toys scared them!
