"Life Imitating Art"

This is a picture of our dear departed Sylvester. The pic was taken sometime in 2002 when we lived in our old rental house not far from where we live now. The quality of the pic is not so good because it was snapped using a camcorder, that's before we had a digital camera. Sylvester was imitating the portrait the lady had painted of him.
He had a wonderful personality and made a great addition to our kitty family. He was probably around 2 years old in this picture. He died last year and we all miss him greatly. We are glad we have pictures like this to remind us of his great character.

The Real Me

8 random facts about Cal!

1. I was born on Halloween 1998 and was adopted just before Christmas of that year (That's before we had a digital camera and I don't feel like scanning right now, so I will use a pic of me from in my outfit last Christmas)

2. I came from a local pet shop (I was an impulse buy, they were looking for fish and came home with me)

3. The name they gave me originally was Cali, short for Caliente (It was later shortened again, to Cal, after my first vet visit and they were told-- what I knew all along, that I was a boy)

4. I will randomly attack Dixie dog (Some hisses, a few whaps to the face, I even chase her)

5. I love to go outside (It is rare that I can leave the porch and only when on my harness and supervised)

6. I miss my brofur, Sylvester, very much (He died last year suddenly and unexpectedly)

7. When I was 3 years old I was hospitalized for 3 days for a severe urinary obstruction caused by urethral plugs (Unable to urinate I was catheterized, given fluids, and $1800.00 later I was all better)

8. I have many nicknames (The Sissy, Satchel, Calboy, Cal-bal and the list goes on......)

Goodbye Girl

We are very sad to have to say goodbye to our friend, Abby.
As you may remember, just last week, Abby was our house guest.

Abby left for the bridge last night after a driveway accident at her home. Our thoughts and purrayers are with Abby's loving caretaker and her sisfur, Betsie.

Cinnamon Girl - Feral Friday

This is Cinnamon. She is one of the lady and man's favorite feral kitties. They feed Cinnamon and the rest of her feral colony regularly. Cinnamon and two of her colony mates stayed at our house while they were in post-op from their spay/neuter surgeries earlier this year. If you look real hard you might be able to see that her left ear is tipped, which signifies that she has been altered.

When Cinnamon sees the lady's car pull up at the boat yard, she runs to the feeding station ready to eat some crunchies! The bottom two photos are from Thanksgiving day, she is enjoying her Thanksgiving dinner!

**Cal Update**
Cal's meds are working, his appetite is improving and his litter box issues are starting to resolve. None of this could have been possible without the outpouring of love, purrs, purrayers, advice, etc. given to us by the wonderful kitties out in the blogosphere! You guys rock!

Man In The Box

The lady had a phone consultation yesterday with the great Dr. D about my recent IBD flare-up. It was decided that I should go back on the prednisilone and metronidazole for a while, since we had such great results on it before.

She also recommended I start a food trial, but I'm not having it. Right now the only thing I will eat is dry kitten food--thanks CC and Snoopy! I was loving my grain-free wet food until I had that flare up and vomited, but the lady is hoping I will go back to it once my tummy settles.

Right now I am having intermittent vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation. Sure hope the meds kick in real soon so I will go back to having a wonderful appetite and normal litter box habits! A little weight gain wouldn't hurt either.....I need some more insulation during this cold weather!

1. My middle name is Bueller (Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?)

2. I hale from a tiny island on the coast of NC (Where they say words like "feesh" and "mommick". I can even see the island from my house!)

3. I am the fraternal twin of Maizy Grace (she still has the "Island brogue")

4. I enjoy wearing shirts, sweaters, and costumes (I act even more mancat-like in clothing)

5. My meow sounds like "waaah" (Yes, like a crying baby.....don't judge)

6. I will eat just about anything (I even enjoy "dumpster diving" in the trashcan for leftovers)

7. My favorite show is Cat TV (The fev-ver makers drive me wild)

8. I am art (I have modeled for several of the lady's paintings)

Over The Hills And Far Away

What a weekend! The lady says she is actually happy to be back to work, so she can relax! On Wednesday afternoon her friend dropped her cat, Abby, off to stay with us until Saturday afternoon. The lady only said yes because the kitty requires daily meds for her thyroid, and because she knew this kitty would be going back home on Saturday. So Abby stayed in the pink room with the fosters, CC and Snoopy.

In between eating with her family for lunch and his family for dinner, the lady put up the Christmas tree and outdoor decorations. She spent hours fluffing and decorating the 9 ft tree and the porch railing garland and the small trees that go on the porch, etc. That night they decided to let CC and Snoopy sleep in the living room so that Abby could relax and come out from under the bed. What a mistake! The next morning there were ornaments scattered all over the room and the branches to the tree were flattened and some even broken. CC and Snoopy slept in the tree!

On Friday, the lady got up early and went shopping. Crazy, yes, but she said it was actually more relaxing than being at home during this time. She only got a few gifts, but got some great deals on them! Ferris wasn't eating like usual, he would only take few bites of food. This was odd because Ferris will eat anything and any amount. Cal also stopped eating as much and vomited once. Oh no! Saturday morning we found out why Ferris had stopped eating when he vomited up a piece of scotch tape the lady used to hang our stockings. He was very lucky he was able to get it out and it didn't cause an obstruction. He is back to normal now! Cal, on the other hand, is having an IBD flare up and has blood in his stool as of yesterday. So the lady will be calling the vet this morning for a refill on the predisilone.
